But it's "lite."

Camping prep going on in the kitchen this morning.  It's 90 degrees at 0945.  I am trying to get as much of our food ready here in my air-conditioned kitchen.  The thought of slaving over a hot propane burner at the campsite is less than appealing.  I went to Crossfit this morning for "Friday fun."  100 knees to elbows (hang from pull up bar, bring knees to elbows), 100 kettle bell swings, 100 ground to overhead (get a bar from the ground to over your head--i.e. clean and jerk), bookended with  500 meter runs.  I had to rechalk my hands every 10 reps by the end.  I finished in 27:47 and looked like I had just jumped in a swimming pool and then rolled in powdered sugar.  Everyone is super friendly and helpful.  I keep telling myself that I am old enough to be most of their mothers. 

The stand up paddleboard had its maiden voyage this week, and it is unbelievably fun.  I have a feeling Ian will have to fight me for his turn.  I wonder how far you have to paddle to work off one Spam musubi?  We are bringing some healthier food including a pickled fennel and tomato salad--from the newest issue of Bon Appetit.  The pickling spices include fennel seed, star anise, cumin, coriander, lemongrass and orange peel.  It also called for anise seed, but I thought I didn't have any.  I found it this morning in a reusable grocery bag with a receipt dated in February.  I am glad it wasn't cheese although I suspect the smell would have given it away much earlier.
