We liked the bottle at Costco so we purchased this French rose despite the relatively high price for a rose.
It turns out the 2012 vintage was released by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to critical acclaim. Here is the Wine Spectator write up:
"Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have released their first wine, a 2012 rose from their Provence estate, Chateau Miraval. In a blind tasting of a flight of Provençal roses at Wine Spectator's New York office, the wine was refined and elegant, with pure flavors of dried red berry and tangerine, and a focused finish with flint and spice notes. It scored 90 points, or outstanding, on Wine Spectator's 100-point scale."
There was a run on the 2012 vintage. So we felt lucky to get our hands on the 2013 vintage after learning the backstory.
We opened this rose to celebrate the arrival of our good friends into the DC area. We drank as a sipper while my daughter and her friends broke in a new set of throwing knives.
We enjoyed the wine. Light on the nose, dry, and refreshing. Aftertaste is pleasant but not staying. I was not enchanted but enjoyed this rose. Ginny had a higher regard. Maybe better with pairing? If available, we will try another bottle.
Sipped: 3-/6 (very good)
